Recently I bought  TP-LINK TL-WR740N 150Mbps Wireless N Router from flipkart for my home purpose use, and I though I could do a review of this product as well so that other users who are looking to buy this product will get to know whether to go with this product or not.

In my home I have been using BSNL broadband connection which doesn’t have wifi option in that modem (ADSL 2+). So I was planning to buy a good router. After searching lot on internet, I decided to go with TP-Link  TL-WR740N router because of its low cost, features and lot of positive reviews which I found on Flipkart. And finally I ordered  TP-LINK TL-WR740N 150Mbps Wireless N Router from flipkart. Before I order I had one doubts in my mind like whether it supports for windows 8 OS or not? because I’m using windows 8 OS in my laptop and in specification details they have not mentioned anything about windows 8. But still guessing I ordered it, and  Within few days I received this product from flipkart without any problem. After I tried that drivers with windows 8 OS and it works without any problem.

Coverage:
Everyone first looks at it’s coverage area to decide how good that router is. When it comes to TP-Link  TL-WR740N router  coverage,   it comes with 5dBi Antenna in technical terms. In non technical term, it can give full signal for up to 3 rooms. If you keep this router middle place you can cover up to 6 rooms without loosing any signal. Hi Arun…I have TP Link 150 Mbps Wireless N router (TL-WR740N). I recently purchased it. I have Beam broadband internet connection. Till today I could directly connect the cable to WAN port and use wifi in all my gadgets lappy, mobile, tab. But, today it stopped working and I’m unable to get wifi connected. Even though it shows wifi is connected nothing works. My question is as you said above that it works with modem only, how could it work till today? Even now, the wifi device is detected in the gadgets and shown as connected. In some posts on net I have seen that modem is not required for this router and for the ISP (Beam Fiber) connection. If it is mandatory to use modem for this router can you suggest the modem to use and resolve my queries…
1. If you are able to browse internet on your mobile device using Wifi then you don’t need modem.
2. Check whether your DNS is correct or not, maybe you can check this post http://www.ashout.com/unable-to-resolve-dns-problem-tp-link-router/
3. Try changing your IP address. Specially last digits.
If nothing worked out then try searching on router (TP Link) forum.
If you post any exact error, maybe I could have helped you…

I recommend you to contact your ISP (BSNL) they will come and configure it for you.

In most cases it will supports your modem type. For low end model, try searching on flipkart.

I’m not sure about that. If I have access, then I could have checked that I guess. Currently I’m staying away from home so I don’t have any idea about it.
In general, if you have a 100 Mbps plan and 100 users using that connection, then each user can get 1 Mbps speed.
Actual speed = Speed/no of users

If you are getting network cable unplugged then check your cable connection. Maybe some cable might have damaged.

No. It won’t work. This is just a router and it won’t have modem in it. So you need one modem to this device.
Modem:- Converts your telephone single into internet signal.
Router:- Takes Internet signals and makes it Wireless (WiFi)
But why does it have one WAN port and four LAN ports?
you can use to those ports to connect desktops or some users prefer wired connection that time they can use those ports.

I have bought the same wifi router recently and it worked fine till some time about 2-3 days and now it is giving problem. I use to connect my laptop and after sometime about 2-4min browser throws an error “Page cannot be displayed”. I checked in wireless network connection and it was still showing as Internet Access. Everytime this happen i have to disconnect and reconnect the wifi network “TPLink” again. I am not sure why this happening? Can you help me out?

Dude, it’s not internet connection. It’s just Router. So you don’t need to pay by PrePaid or by PostPaid. It’s just one time payment. Once you took internet connection, that time you need to pay internet rental as per their plan.

NO. You cannot. You need modem to use Broadband connection on your smartphone. So get a modem to use internet on mobile.

It works with all types of Internet connection.. just ask your ISP that whether it requires Modem or Router is enough. For example, I use Act Internet connection right now; for this connection, I don’t need any Modem so I connected Internet cable directly to my TP link router.
